Our CORE Team members would not be directly responsible to give a talk unless they want to. Most talks are given by the Youth Ministers or a guest speaker. The CORE team responsibility is to guide conversation afterward during the break sessions. All the material and small group questions are provided ahead of time. The whole plan for the night is provided ahead of time, so there will be enough time to prepare.
We also plan to have Jr. Mentors who are our High School 11th and 12th grade students who have felt the call to minister especially to our Middle School students and help play a leadership role on High School retreats.
Life Teen has created over the years training and support material for our CORE Team members, all this material is available to us to equip our CORE Team.
Finally, and most importantly, we need committed volunteers to pray for our teens. Of course, anybody can do this from wherever you are; however, we would like to coordinate with those who pray for our youth so that we can share our teen’s specific prayer requests with our prayer warriors. There are so many things that our teens need prayer for and the more volunteers we are able to get to pray for our youth the more grace will be poured out into this ministry.
Teens do NOT connect to programs; they connect to people. The most effective way to influence teens is through a significant relationship with key people in their lives. Our goal is to develop adult leaders who will walk the journey to Christ with teens.
There are many things that make a good CORE team member. Simply put, teens need adults on CORE team who will:
Love God and live for Him.
Be interested in their lives.
Go to “their world.”
Pray for them.
Be patient.
Say encouraging words.
Laugh with them.
Take initiative to spend time with them.
Remember their names.
Be witnesses to God’s love.
Be consistently present.
Enjoy life.
