St. Mark's Active Retired Trend Setters (S.M.A.R.T.S.) is a lay ministry of St. Mark's parish whose purpose is to act as a social organization for St. Mark's senior adult members and their families and friends. Its goals are to offer to its members, fellowship, social activities, spiritual growth, topical speakers and community service opportunities; and to encourage its members to live a life consistent with the mission of St. Mark's parish.SMARTS currently has more than 120 members. Meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month in The Venetian. Activities offered include day trips to plays, theaters, museums, amusement parks, gardens, sporting events etc. A number of activities are offered including Cards, Game Day, Bowling, Billiards, and Miniature Golf. New and exciting events and activities are continually being evaluated and considered. Service opportunities include, but are not limited to, reaching out to members in need through our community outreach program, assisting St. Vincent DePaul Society, and the Knights of Columbus with various initiatives and helping to stock and manage the SVDP Parish Food Pantry. SMARTS is pleased to work with, and support the Parish Youth Ministry cooperatively in an effort to attain various goals and objectives for each of our respective ministries.. We send get well cards to members who are ill and sympathy cards when a member loses a close family member. Spiritual growth opportunities include Days of Reflection, First Friday Mass/Breakfast.
