Mena George was born in Mosul and raised in Baghdad, Iraq. She and her family, cradle Catholics, became parishioners of St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church when they moved to Tampa, Florida in October of 2005. She obtained a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of South Florida in 2013, and she is currently working as a production engineer with the Mosaic Company. Mena has recently volunteered to help manage St. Mark’s social media pages. She is a steward of the gifts God has entrusted to her. Her goal is to help St. Mark influence the community, engage our parishioners in events and ministries, provide daily reminders of the gospel’s teachings, and share our culture with people who might be open to learning more.
Mena, born during the Gulf War and witnessed part of the Iraq War, is very grateful for everything that God has blessed her with. She is happy she was able to move to a beautiful and safe country like the US with her family. Suffering and living through difficult times have deepened Mena and her family’s appreciation for things and people around them.
In her spare time, Mena enjoys cooking, making mosaics out of Mardi Gras beads, painting, drawing, hiking, and photography.
