Deacon Jose Moronta was born in Caracas, Venezuela. Born and raised in a practicing Catholic family, he was altar server as a child. He was also Cub Scout, Boy Scout and Scout leader for several years. In college years, after completing his training, he served as volunteer in a rescue team and also as firefighter. At the university he got a degree in Science, mention Chemistry. Worked as High School teacher for Chemistry and Physics until he joined an international corporation in which he became director of its Medical Division. Moved to the US with his family, wife Noelia and two children, Noelia Veronica and Mariano, 25 years ago, and became US citizen in 2006, same year he got his license as Realtor.
Although he had some involvement in Church in his native country, he became more involved in pastoral ministries in Tampa. Had the privilege of assisting Fr. Austin Mullen from the initial days of our parish. Completed the Lay Pastoral Ministry Institute formation (LPMI) in its first class, and after being commissioned, was called to become facilitator for later classes of the LPMI. A few years later he completed his formation for the diaconate, being ordained on October 3, 2009. Since then he has served our parish in different positions and ministries. Deacon Jose has six grandchildren, loves writing, and also loves teaching, baptizing children and assisting couples preparing for marriage.
