Today we live in a nation that is becoming more and more multicultural. St. Mark the Evangelist parish definitely reflects that growing trend. We are a rich mixture of diverse ethnic backgrounds.
It would be a mistake to characterize our backgrounds by all-inclusive labels such as; European, Hispanic, Asian or African. We are more distinct and diverse. Our parents were born in India, the Philippines, Puerto Rico and dozens of other countries.
Wouldn’t you like to learn more of each other, and the cultures that make us each so unique?
St. Mark’s Stewardship Commission would like to present the opportunity for our congregation to discover and experience “Many Traditions, One Family In Christ”. We are in the process of planning this International Day at St. Mark. We encourage and welcome your participation by sharing the Art, Music, Food and traditions of your country of origin. It has been tentatively planned for September 17th, 2011 pending our congregation’s enthusiasm and willingness to participate.
If you would like to be on the planning committee, or form a group and have your culture included, we welcome your participation. Our space will dictate how many cultures can be highlighted. If you are interested and can offer your time and talent, please e-mail Barbara Delman – [email protected]. Please put International Day in the subject space.
Please join us as we create a beautiful and colorful bouquet from the vibrant and abundant garden of cultures which make up St. Mark’s Parish!
