The Good Samaritan Project information is finally here, If your son or Daughter is in 7th grade going to 8th grade in the summer.
The Good Samaritan Project is turning 10 this summer!!! For those of you who are unfamiliar with the program or new to our diocese or looking for more information on the Good Samaritan Project, GSP is a retreat that provides our youth with the opportunity to joyfully and courageously serve the needs of our local community and the Church. We place a strong emphasis on prayer and Sacraments, just as we do to community and fun. Please let Deacon Hector know if you need more information regarding GSP.
Here is the information regarding GSP:
June 20-25 at Bishop McLaughlin Catholic High School.
$250 per person. This includes an air mattress, GSP shirts, food, transportation, etc.
GSP is free for chaperones!
Due to increasing expenses, we have had to raise our price for the first time in 10 years.
This program is open to students that are entering 8th grade through 12th grade.
Students must be present for the whole week, including the closing Mass. No exceptions.
Our theme for the summer is “Journey Together” which will be connected to the current Synod.
Registration will be taking place online but with a slightly different look.
Parish registration opens in mid-February
GSP Participant Registration opens April 15th
We work in groups according to parishes/schools. As a result, we will need assistance from the parishes and schools with meeting safe environment ratios. Parishes will be required to bring the correct Safe Environment ratio of adults to particpants before students are accepted.
We are capping the program at 300 students.
We are not committing to any Covid safety protocols at this time, but we will keep close tabs on the impact of Covid as we get closer to our program before making any determinations.
Cell phones and other technology (for the youth) are not permitted on the program at all.
As Group Leader, you are responsible for all participants you bring to GSP, therefore you will be able to accept or deny a participant registration. Once the registration is accepted, the participant will be emailed all necessary forms for completion with instructions on where to send the completed forms and payment.
Participants will be required to submit the completed forms and payment to you, the group leader. Duplicates of all completed forms for all participants in your group must be handed in when you arrive at GSP.
