The Church was born at Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit descended upon the faithful gathered in prayer, inspiring them to praise God in a multitude of tongues. Since that time, through the laying on of hands and anointing with Sacred Chrism, the Church has invoked this same outpouring of the Spirit upon those who would follow Christ. This is the Sacrament of Confirmation.
At St. Mark, we typically prepare teens to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation in the tenth grade. Older teens, of course, also can be prepared to receive Confirmation. Adults (those eighteen years of age or older and who have finished high school) who have not been confirmed are prepared through a separate program for adults. For more information, see Sacramental Preparation. If you have questions, please contact the Director of Evangelization, Deacon Scott Paine ([email protected]) 813-725-0951.
