(Jan 2017) Greetings to all of you! (Pilgrimage continued)
By now 2017 has starting in full swing as we welcome our new Bishop, His Excellency, Gregory Parks, and about to be President, Donald Trump. My prayers, and I hope yours, will be with them for the future of our Diocese and Nation. It looks like interesting things are ahead!
I would also like to begin the conclusion of my series on our pilgrimage to the Holy places in Europe with our final stop to Medjugorje. As we entered this pretty city after our two hour bus ride from Split, we were at once hit by its apparent peacefulness. Surrounding this beautiful place were two mountains (this is why the city is called that name) which are known as Apparition Hill, where Mary first appeared to the six visionaries, and Cross Hill on which a huge cross was erected many years ago. The cross itself can be seen from miles around Medjugorje and it is one of the favorite destinations for pilgrims. As we disembarked from the bus we were privileged to be staying the next five days in the retreat house built by Ivan, our host, who continues to receive daily apparitions from Our Lady. On the grounds was also built a chapel where we were gathered everyday to pray the Rosary and wait for the appearance our Our Lady late in the afternoon. But first, we settled into our rooms, cleaned up and got ready for our first dinner in Medjugorje.
Well, that is all for now, more exciting news to follow regarding this great experience.
